Mellon Postdoctoral Fellow in English Language Lexicography
Danica Salazar

Research interests:

Danica Salazar's main research project as a Mellon Postdoctoral Fellow was an investigation of the relationship between World Englishes and lexicography, with a specific focus on the lexicography of Philippine English and the representation of this and other Southeast Asian varieties in the Oxford English Dictionary. The project is being carried out under the mentorship of Professor Charlotte Brewer at the Faculty of English Language and Literature, as well as at Oxford University Press, home not only of the historical OED, but also of a wide range of dictionaries of current English, such as the Oxford Dictionary of English.

Danica Salazar is originally from Manila, Philippines, but has been living in Europe for the last half-decade. She obtained her PhD in Applied Linguistics from the University of Barcelona. She also has a Master’s degree in Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language from the University of Salamanca and a Bachelor of Arts degree in European Languages from the University of the Philippines-Diliman, with a major in Spanish and a minor in French. She has now moved on to become Consultant Editor on World Englishes for the OED
