
Dr. Omri is Lecturer in Modern Arabic Literature and Tutorial Fellow at St. John’s College, University of Oxford. Omri’s publications include: Trade and cultural exchange in the early modern Mediterranean: Braudel’s maritime legacy (2010) in collaboration with Maria Fusaro and Colin Heywood; Nationalism, Islam and World Literature: sites of confluence in the writings of Mahmud al-Mas’adi (2006); The Novelization of Islamic Literatures: the intersections of Western, Arabic, Persian, Urdu and Turkish Traditions, a special issue of Comparative Critical Studies (4:3, 2007); and two books with historian Abdeljalil Temimi. Omri also contributes occasional media interventions related to the culture and politics of Tunisia, the Maghreb and the Mediterranean more widely.
