Dr Eleni Philippou completed her DPhil in English Literature at New College, The University of Oxford. Her thesis explored the implications of Adorno’s critical theory for literary studies, particularly in relation to texts that emerge from situations of political extremity. Her key research interests are postcolonial and world literature, contemporary literature, and critical theory. In recent years, especially after her appointment at OCCT, her research has moved strongly towards comparative literature, and translation theory and practice. She concurrently holds a Junior Research Fellowship at St Anne’s College and is a Postdoctoral Research Assistant on the Prismatic Translation research strand of the OWRI-funded Creative Multilingualism project. Furthermore, she is an active poet, with a number of her poems published in both British and international anthologies and journals.
