Elizabeth Ewart

Elizabeth Ewart is an social anthropologist whose research focuses on  indigenous people in Central Brazil where she has lived and worked with Panará people. Her 2013 monograph Space & Society in Central Brazil: A Panará Ethnography focuses on Panará concepts of self and other, the organisation of space and the social significance of material goods. She has a long-standing interest in the material and visual aspects of Amerindian lived worlds, including concepts of beauty, body adornment, beadwork, garden design and village layout and is also interested in the anthropology of everyday practices, such as child rearing and gardening.
