Sir Mark Walport will be visiting the University of Oxford. Sir Mark is CEO of UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) which operates across the whole of the UK with a combined budget of more than £6 billion. UKRI brings together the seven Research Councils, Innovate UK, and a new organisation, Research England (formerly the research arm of HEFCE). UKRI is a key funder of research in the University and also a key player in realising the Industrial Strategy.
Sir Mark will be making a presentation on ‘Priorities for UKRI in ensuring a vibrant research base, which contributes to the UK’s economy and society’ at an open event in the Weston Library Lecture Theatre at 1:45pm, followed by a Q&A.
