May Day Soapbox Video

Francessca Day

As part of Oxford city’s May Day celebrations, academics gave 5-minute talks from atop a soapbox on Broad Street. The event was jointly organised by the Playhouse and Pegasus theatres. The brief was to do, say, or otherwise perform something radical. Despite heavy rain, the atmosphere was electric. Our speakers talked about why Greek plays matter; why tourists are our friends; Exeter College’s Anthony Gormley statue; altruism; physics as fan fiction; and citizen science as the new Call of Duty.  Please click here to see the video.
