Music in Prison, Detention and Resettlement

This workshop brings together 20 researchers and practitioners (based in the UK, Belgium, Norway, Greece and USA) to share experiences, questions and ideas for the future in terms of carrying out critical and meaningful research in the area of music and criminal justice. Many of the UK’s leading music charities working in criminal justice will be represented at the workshop and there will be researchers from disciplines including criminology, music education, music psychology and ethnomusicology. The event is being convened by Dr James Butterworth (University of Oxford), in collaboration with SIMM (Social Impact of Music Making - http://www.simm-platform.eu) and with support from the John Fell Fund at the University of Oxford.
