Stress-Free Living taster session

Stress-free living
Thursday, January 14, 2016 -
12:00pm to 1:00pm
Radcliffe Humanities (ground floor)
Colin Matthew Room

This lunchtime taster session will explore:

  • A deeper understanding of the underlying causes of stress
  • Some of the common illusions around stress
  • Practical ways to strengthen resilience

It will also incorporate simple guided relaxations and meditations that are easy to practise in a busy schedule.

The course, aimed specifically at early-career academics, is timed to serve as a taster for a free two-part Saturday course on stress-free living course being run for the general public by Inner Space Oxford on the afternoons of the 16th and 23rd of January (see here for more details).

Our session will be led by Gaby Havard, a co-ordinator at Inner Space Meditation Centre in Oxford. Born in South Africa, she was first introduced to meditation through her mother at an early age and has been studying and practising it more seriously for the last 7 years. She has a degree in Psychology and English Literature and also works as an Academic Support Worker for students with disabilities at Oxford Brookes University.
