TORCH Bite-size Talks

TORCH Bite-size Talks @Ashmolean LiveFriday

Does your research involve heroes or villains?
Would you like to have the chance to showcase your work to the public?

The Ashmolean Museum will be opening its doors from 7-10.30pm on Friday 29th January 2016 for LiveFriday.

TORCH is working with the Ashmolean to create interactive workshops or bite-sized talks (10-15 minutes), where visitors can drop in, discover something interesting, perhaps do an activity, and ask questions.

LiveFriday attracts a diverse and exciting audience. We expect 3,000 visitors and we take over the entire museum for one night only. The theme this time is heroes and villains across cultures and through time, with particular emphasis on the collections of the Ashmolean. If you need help relating your research to a particular object, then the Ashmolean Public Engagement team and TORCH can help.

If you would like to put an idea forward, then send your name, research area, what Ashmolean object(s) it connects to
and brief outline (150 words max) to Victoria McGuinness (TORCH Business Manager) victoria.mcguinness@humanities.ox.ac.uk

Deadline – 4 Jan 2016
We will let everyone know the outcome by Friday 8 January 2016, after which we will invite you to come to the Ashmolean to work on your talk/activity with the Ashmolean Public Engagement team, Sarah Doherty.
