14th June 2017. A fire breaks out at the 24-storey Grenfell Tower block of public housing flats in North Kensington, Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, West London. It caused 71 deaths and over 70 injuries. What happens in the course of the year will raise pertinent questions about social housing, structural inequality and discrimination.
Following on from the success of last year’s Race Symposium which discussed whether or not multiculturalism can work particularly after Brexit, Wadham College is proud to present our annual Race Symposium, ‘Grenfell: A Year On. An Investigation of the Intersection between Race and Class.’
The event will be split into different sections, including talks, artistic performances and a panel discussion.
