Dr Kitty Wheater is co-convenor of the ‘Life Itself in Theory and Practice’ network. She is a social and medical anthropologist, and holds an MA in History, an MPhil in Social Anthropology, and a DPhil in Anthropology, all from Oxford. Her doctoral research, funded by the Economic and Social Research Council, was an ethnography of ethics and embodied practice in mindfulness-based psychotherapeutic interventions in the United Kingdom.
As a scholar-practitioner working across the anthropology of medicine and religion, Kitty’s research interests include the body and embodiment, ethics and subjectivity, time, gender, and kinship. She is Postdoctoral Associate at the Institute of Social and Cultural Anthropology, and Associate at the Oxford Mindfulness Centre in the Department of Psychiatry.
