Chelsea is the founder of Futures Thinking and a DPhil candidate in the Faculty of English, working on speculative fictions. She is a Mandela Rhodes scholar and completed her undergraduate degrees in French, Literature, and Journalism at the University Currently Known as Rhodes/UCKARhodes and Gender Studies at the University of Cape Town in South Africa. She has an MA in Culture and Thought After 1945 from the University of York, and has worked across disciplines throughout her career, publishing on children’s literature, African street literature, neo-Burlesque performance, and contemporary Black British writing. She is a research assistant on Prismatic Translation in the Creative Multilingualism project and has experience working in Cape Town’s publishing industry. She also volunteers at Africa in Words, whilst indulging her myriad research interests in refugee literature, urban studies, feminisms, and speculative fictions.
