Dr Hatice Yıldız is a Junior Research Fellow in History at Merton College, specialising in gender and labour in the late Ottoman Empire and colonial India. Her PhD dissertation explored gendered aspects of employment and class politics in Bursa silk factories and Bombay cotton mills between 1850 and 1910. During her graduate studies, Hatice visited various libraries and archives in Cambridge, London, Istanbul, Bursa, Mumbai, New Delhi and Kolkata. She is currently working on a book project that derives from her PhD thesis.
