The TORCH network 'Crisis, Extremes, and Apocalypse' are hosting a seminar on 'A Crisis the earth has never seen: Nietzsche, the ''war of spirits'' and Great politics' with speaker Dr Hugo Drochon (University of Cambridge).

Abstract

Explaining ‘why he is a destiny’ in his autobiographical Ecce Homo (1888), Nietzsche declares that his name will be associated with a ‘crisis the earth has never seen’: ‘the concept of politics will have then merged entirely into a war of spirits…there will be wars such as the earth has never seen. Starting with me, the earth will know great politics’. Exploring the notions of the ‘war of spirits’ and ‘great politics’, this talk will try to make sense of the crisis Nietzsche threatened and how it might help us make sense of the world we live in today.
