Framed! Ashmolean Live Friday

Framed! Ashmolean Live Friday

We are seeking contributions from researchers at the University of Oxford for the Ashmolean's Framed! LiveFriday on Friday 13 May. LiveFridays are the Ashmolean's late night public engagement events, involving a programme of live music, performances, workshops, and talks designed to bring the collections to life in innovative ways for up to 2,000 visitors at once.

Bringing the final weekend of the Ashmolean’s Andy Warhol exhibition off with a grand finale, this LiveFriday will focus on portraits across the Museum and beyond. TORCH will be collaborating with the Ashmolean on a bite-size lecture series exploring portraiture from a range of perspectives. We are looking for engaging topics for 15 minute lectures or workshops, with an innovative take on the topic and an interest in using an object from the collections at some point in the talk.

Possible themes include: Portraiture, the face, selfies/personal representation, concept of beauty, plastic surgery, framing, facial tattooing, make up, masks, mimes, different facial planes

Please contact Victoria McGuinness (victoria.mcguinness@humanities.ox.ac.uk) with 50 - 100 words about your idea by 29 April 2016.
