Every year, St Anne’s and Oxford Comparative Criticism and Translation host Oxford Translation Day. It is a celebration of literary translation consisting of workshops, readings, and talks. The day traditionally culminates in the award of the Oxford-Weidenfeld Translation Prize.
This year, given the COVID-19 pandemic, Oxford Translation Day has taken place as a series of online sessions over the course of a few weeks. Today, 13 June, we are very excited to announce the Oxford-Weidenfeld Prize shortlist. We are also releasing video recordings of Sophie Hughes, the literary translator, talking about the novel Hurricane Season, and A.E. Stallings, the poet and translator, discussing the poets Katerina Anghelaki-Rooke and Kiki Dimoula, who both died in early 2020, leaving behind a huge absence in Modern Greek letters.
