'A Map of Dissidence: "Dark Corners" of the British Isles'

rsz ithacafalls

Professor Peter Davidson (Campion Hall) will be discussing ‘A Map of Dissidence: “Dark Corners” of the British Isles’. This is part of the Environmental Humanities Programme at The Oxford Research Centre in the Humanities (TORCH).

This talk seeks to open connections between different ways of thinking about place and environment, by focusing on how those dissident areas of upland Britain traditionally identified (or dismissed) as "dark corners," have been perceived over time, and the part they have played in shaping the cultural and emotional map of Britain.

Professor Peter Davidson is the author of a number of works on the relationship between art and landscape, including The Idea of the North, Memory and Distance, and The Last of the Light

Sandwiches will be provided. All welcome.
