We are very pleased to announce that on the 1st December, a group of researchers from the Wellcome-funded Life of Breath project (University of Bristol/Durham University) will be coming to Oxford to offer a workshop around the topic of 'Breath, Breathing, and Being'. The workshop will consist of a panel of presentations as well as breakout discussion groups. A full, finalised programme will be circulated shortly, but please see the details below for an outline of the day's events.
All are welcome! Attendance is free but registration is required. If you are interested in attending this workshop, please register by emailing phenomenology@torch.ox.ac.uk stating your name and institutional affiliation, if applicable.
The workshop is limited to 50 spaces so we advise you to register sooner rather than later!

10.30-11.00: Arrival – Tea and Coffee
11.00-12.30: A panel of 4 short (15-min) talks from members of the Life of Breath project at Bristol University on the topic of breath, phenomenology, and identity, followed by discussion:

Coreen McGuire, ‘Measuring the breath: standardising group categories and normalcy levels in spirometry’
12.30-1.30: Sandwich Lunch
1.30-3.00: Breakout Groups: these will consist of interactive activities and discussions around topics raised by the panel presentations
3.00-3.15: Tea and Coffee
3.15-4.00: Group discussion in response to breakout group sessions
4.00-5.00: Optional drinks at the Royal Oak pub (opposite the workshop venue)
