Call for Papers are Now Open for the Race & Resistance 2025 Conference
‘Resistance, Renewal, Reimagination: 100 Years of Race & Resistance in Britain’
Deadline for applications: 12 noon, Monday 13 January 2025
The conference invites scholars, activists, researchers, and professionals from all sectors to explore how the last 100 years of race and resistance can inform our present and guide our futures. This conference aims to facilitate discussions on current work happening in Black Britain, in an attempt to answer the following questions:
- How can we speak intellectually, sensitively, and critically about race & resistance during multiple political crises?
- How do we practically claim and ground histories (and presents) of race & resistance through interdisciplinary practice?
We encourage papers that directly address:
- scholar/activism
- Theory & praxis
- Community engagement, partnerships, and outreach
Suggested subthemes include papers on:
- Ecological and climate justice
- Anti-racism and decoloniality in education
- Intergenerational organising & collectivity
- Scholar/activism
- Community engagement praxis
- Resistance in archiving
- Black feminism
- Transnational activism & thought
Submit your 300-word (max.) proposals, alongside a short biography to raceandresistance@torch.ox.ac.uk. We also encourage the submission of full panels.
