Call for Submissions | QIO Essay Prizes 2024

Queer Intersections Oxford is pleased to invite submissions for its Undergraduate and Postgraduate Essay Prizes 2024.
 
 
The prizes aim to promote and reward thought-provoking writing across the broad field of LGBTIQA+ studies. Submissions will be assessed on scholarly rigour and original contribution to the field. We welcome essays from any subject area across the arts, humanities, and sciences.
To enter, you must have held undergraduate or postgraduate student status at the University of Oxford or at Oxford Brookes University in the 2023/2024 academic year. 
 
Prizes
There will be an Undergraduate Prize and a Postgraduate Prize of £130 each.
The Queer Intersections Oxford Essay Prizes have made possible with thanks to TORCH (The Oxford Research Centre in the Humanities). 
 
Guidelines for Submission
• Submissions of up to 5,000 words (excluding bibliography) will be accepted between 17 June 2024 and 8 July 2024. Please send all entries to queer.intersections@torch.ox.ac.uk. Outcomes will be communicated by the end of July 2024.
 
In your entry, please include a cover sheet that displays the following:
• Your full name
• Email address
• Brief academic bio (2-3 lines)
• Confirmation of your student status in the 2023/2024 academic year
• A note that your essay is for consideration in the Queer Intersections Oxford Essay Prize
• Please include a short abstract (100-200 words, included in overall word count) at the beginning of your essay.
• Your essay must be an original piece of work; no part of it can have been previously published or under consideration for any other prize or publishing outlet. Please only send one essay for consideration.
• Please remove your name and any identifying details from the document, as submissions will be anonymised for blind peer review.
• Entries not abiding by the above requirements will not be considered.
