Radcliffe Humanities, Woodstock Road, Oxford, OX2 6GG Colin Matthew Room
Speaker: Dr. Martin Crowley, Reader in Modern French Thought and Culture, University of Cambridge
Philosopher Catherine Malabou is best known for her elaboration of the concept of plasticity, from her early work on Hegel, through her extensive engagement with neuroscience, to her recent work on artificial intelligence. Ranging across her work, this talk will focus on the understanding of change - especially drastic, discontinuous change - contained within her accounts of plasticity, and will explore and evaluate the model of agency this understanding discloses.
A wine reception will follow Dr. Crowley's talk. All welcome!
