TORCH seeks to appoint a Communications and Events Officer to support its activities. The main purpose of the post is to plan, manage, and deliver communications, events, and day-to-day administration for TORCH. The postholder will have responsibility for planning and coordinating a wide range of communications activities and projects, which are an essential part of the operation and development of TORCH, as well as a key role in developing its communications strategy for its key stakeholders. The postholder will have overall responsibility for the TORCH website and the accuracy of all outgoing communications.

The postholder will mostly work to develop TORCH communications and events, as well as keeping the administration for TORCH up-to-date, in conjunction with the Operations Manager and TORCH Business Manager. This includes following appropriate University and divisional procedures, and contributing to adapting TORCH’s practice accordingly.

They will be responsible for planning a wide range of communications activities internally and externally, online and in print, and will ensure that all TORCH’s social networking spaces are kept up-to-date with relevant information and that content is appropriately conveyed and in keeping with house style.

There may be an occasional need to work evenings or weekends, which will be agreed by prior arrangement with the Operations Manager. Under these circumstances, appropriate recompense or time off in lieu will be given.
