“Original and intelligent, **** Metro
“Eccentric, heartfelt and very funny” ****Guardian
“A surreal disorientating hybrid of theatre, stand up comedy and jazz concert, hysterical” **** Independent
Words and Music starts like conventional standup, before mining stranger territory. It ends up questioning what it is to even be human. Weighty themes, served lightly with jokes and tunes. A shaggy dog story where the dog may not even be a canine. The show was directed by Edinburgh legend Tom Parry, with support from Dr Wes Williams at Oxford University’s TORCH programme (NB This is legit, he’s not a Bond villain). Words and Music is a solo show, but many collaborators have helped develop the material, including Olivier Award Winning theatre director Sean Holmes, comedian Josie Long (Edinburgh Comedy Award Winner) and composer Jim Fortune (Olivier Award Nominee).
