Feminism in Theory and Action

humanities logo icon 200px

A feminist conference in Oxford discussing theory and activism challenging gender oppression. The conference is a single day event organised by both students and feminists living in the town. The events will range from debates and panels on gender and class, women and mental health, gendered homelessness, ecofeminism, feminist history, female refugees/ asylum seekers and more! There will also be feminist art instillations, spoken word, a queer workshop and t-shirt making! The day is free and there will be sandwiches for lunch.

We hope to provide platforms especially to those who emphasise the interrelation of oppressions and call for united action. In a time when feminism is becoming increasingly high profile, and in some spaces, increasingly liberal in its demands, we want to stage a day of discussions and workshops that go beyond identity politics and assimilation. Feminism in Theory and Action will focus strongly on relocating feminism within everyday political struggles.

Free and open to all, with lunch provided. People are encouraged to register on the website to give an idea of numbers, but it is not essential, please go here for more information: http://feminismtheoryaction.co.uk.
