What is it to flourish or to live a flourishing life? Is it only human beings who can live flourishing lives, or can non-human animals? Perhaps even eco-systems can flourish? This seminar will bring together three outstanding philosophers to shed light on these important and timely questions.

Workineh Kelbessais Professor of Philosophy in the Dept. of Philosophy, University of Addis Ababa, and TORCH Humanities and Identities Visiting Professor, 2023 – 24. He is currently hosted by the Oxford Uehiro Centre for Practical Ethics and All Souls College. He has published books and articles on a wide range of topics, including African philosophy, indigenous knowledge, environmental philosophy, environmental ethics, development ethics, climate ethics, water ethics, globalization, and the philosophy of love and sex.
Joseph Moore is a Senior Research Fellow in the University of Oxford's Wellcome Centre for Ethics and Humanities and the Oxford Uehiro Centre for Practical Ethics. He specializes in ethical theory, political theory, and the history of philosophy, especially ancient Greek philosophy.
