On Monday 15 May, a group of students from Oxford joined Dr Michele Bianconi (Oxford) and Dr Jon Taylor (British Museum) for a practical workshop in the Department of the Middle East Study Room of the British Museum. After a whistlestop tour of cuneiform writing from the third millennium BCE to the first century CE, students practised drawing, transliteration and translation on two Hittite tablets, one with the Ritual of Uhhamuwa of Arzawa, and one with the treaty of Muwatalli II of Hatti and Alakšandu of Wiluša.
