How to make and distribute 45,350 comics about political participation

Lydia Wysocki (Newcastle University)

This talk will explore Lydia Wysocki's experience in making comics as both an educational researcher and a comics maker/editor/publisher, including her works Freedom City Comics (2017), a large collaborative anthology based on research about the history of civil rights and political participation on Tyneside, and Strike comics (2018 and 2019), made as part of industrial action for fair pensions and fair working conditions in universities and colleges. Both projects needed extremely effective distribution methods to reach a range of intended audiences, and a commitment to comics making and research as praxis.

All welcome.
