After each of the Hilary Term lunchtime seminars in the TORCH Humanities and Science Headline Series 2014-15, the Ashmolean University Engagement Programme will continue to pursue the topic among the extraordinary collections of the Ashmolean Museum. This session will focus on "Culture and Technology".
Moving from the Radcliffe Humanities Building to the Museum Study Room, we will examine objects, prints and drawings chosen for their relevance to the theme of each panel, giving an opportunity for further discussion and debate spurred by some of the greatest products of the human hand and mind.
Each session is limited to a maximum of ten participants. Please email victoria.mcguinness@humanities.ox.ac.uk to book a place. We regret that, owing to building work taking place in the Museum, there is temporarily no level access to the Study Room for wheelchair users.
The Object Sessions will be led by Dr Jim Harris, Andrew W Mellon Foundation Teaching Curator in the Ashmolean University Engagement Programme. Jim is an art historian specialising in late-medieval and Renaissance sculpture.
