Maths and Language panel discussion. We consider rhetoric, grammar and logic, including the 'formula' behind the best sermons, speeches and poems. Featuring the series' resident mathematician Jamshid Derakhshan, Lecturer in Pure Mathematics at St Hilda's College, and Kanta Dihal, a doctoral student researching rhetoric in science communication and science fiction.

In Numbers is a new eight-part programme of panel discussions and poetry workshops exploring how mathematics underpins the historical mind of Oxford. In odd weeks we will hear from leading academics on the ways in which mathematics interacts with the humanities. In even weeks, poetry workshops will draw on these discussions.

Events are free and all are welcome. To find out more, email smv.heritage@gmail.com.
