Migration and the Contemporary Mediterranean

Pink background with a black and white logo of the rad cam and a face, and clenched fists. The words 'race and resistance' are painted in red over the top.

Migration and the Contemporary Mediterranean: Shifting Cultures in Twenty-First Century Italy and Beyond is a new publication in the Programme's book series, Race and Resistance Across Borders in the Long Twentieth Century. Join us for its launch, where the volume's editor, Claudia Gualtieri (University of Milan) will be in conversation with Elleke Boehmer (Professor of World Literature here at Oxford) and with Maeve Moynihan and Lena Hart (both MSt students in Migration Studies, also here at Oxford).

Both the scholarship and the creative work in this timely and eclectic collection shed new light on the current migration situation across the Mediterranean region. We will have copies of the book available for purchase, and a sandwich lunch will be provided. At this event we will also be celebrating the Race and Resistance book series as a whole, which has published five volumes in its first two years.

All are welcome and no registration is required; places and lunch are on a first-come first-served basis.
