A bilingual reading and discussion about translation with one of Germany’s leading poets Durs Grünbein. Grunbein, one of the foremost contemporary poets in Europe and currently the Weidenfeld Visiting Professor in Comparative European Literature, will be reading from recent work, especially his 2017 collection Zündkerzen (Spark plugs) and his forthcoming volume From a Book of Weaknesses: Selected Poems (2005-2017). He himself is an award-winning poet, essayist and translator. He will be reading with Karen Leeder who has won the Stephen Spender Prize and the John Frederick Nims Memorial Prize for her translations of his work.
