Dr Imed Ben Jerbania
The Oxford Centre for Phoenician and Punic Studies (OCTOPUS) is delighted to announce that Dr Imed Ben Jerbania of the Institut National du Patrimoine (Tunis) will deliver its Annual Lecture 2019. This talk on the preliminary results from recent excavations at the so-called tophet at Carthage, directed by Dr Ben Jerbania, will cast new light on the size and stratigraphy of this notorious religious complex, thought by some scholars to be the site of extensive child sacrifice, and by others to be an infant cemetery. The lecture will be followed by a drinks reception.
