Roman de la rose Reading Group

medieval network

Following on from last term's hugely enjoyable and stimulating sessions, this interdisciplinary reading group will continue to run in even weeks of Trinity Term. It involves discussion of short passages from the seminal medieval French poem The Roman de la rose, with researchers and students working in musicology and in medieval literature from a wide range of European languages.

Sessions will take place over a glass of wine on Thursdays of even weeks (2 May, 16 May, 30 May, 13 June) at 17:15 in the Conduit Room in New College. Readings of 150-200 lines in the Old French original are circulated well in advance with a modern English translation). Suggestions for specific passages of interest to those attending more than welcome.

To be added to the list to receive passages, contact Jonathan Morton.
