Stella (1955) is a retelling of Carmen starring Melina Mercouri, directed by Michael Cacoyannis and written by Cacoyannis and Iakovos Kambanellis, on Monday 31 October at 6.30pm in the Ioannou Centre Lecture Theatre, 66 St Giles'.
Following the screening, there will be a discussion chaired by Professor Oliver Taplin (Oxford) and Professor Olga Taxidou (Edinburgh and NYU) with Katerina Kambanelli, daughter of the author and administrator of the archive, Professor Maria Komninou, President of the Board of Directors of the Greek Film Archive, and Sissy Papathanassiou, Head of the Letters Directorate, Hellenic Ministry of Culture and Sports.
