Seminar Room, Radcliffe Humanities

Come enjoy a mid-term break with the Oxford Critical Food Studies Network! The Taste of Things tells the story of Dodin and Eugénie, a famous gourmand and his exceptional cook, who have been in a romantic relationship for 20 years. The film masterfully explores themes of cooking and artistry, the ephemerality of a delicious meal which inevitably becomes memory, food as emotional currency, gender relations/care work, all via cinematography that lovingly captures the beauty of French cuisine.
We’ll be having a little chat about our favourite foodie films before the screening, complemented by some snacks to satisfy our tummies, which are sure to rumble once the film starts!
