Join Dr Minna Jeffery and award-winning director Stephen Bailey (RSC IF 2024-25) for an interactive, practical workshop to explore a new translation of the Spanish Golden Age play Life Is A Dream by Pedro Calderón de la Barca.
Stephen is interrogating the text through the lens of disability, examining the character of Prince Segismundo as a disabled character. This workshop is the first step in this radical reimagining of the play.
During the workshop you will participate in practical devising exercises. Participants are not required to have prior knowledge of the play or to have Spanish-language skills (although participants with either of these are also encouraged to take part).
If you are a student interested in translation or theatre, this is a great opportunity to gain insight into the process.
