In collaboration with Lucy Vernall at The Academic Ideas Lab, TORCH is inviting Humanities researchers to take part in a radio and TV pitching workshop.
As part of the workshop, Humanities academics will have the opportunity to hear from two industry producers - one from Audio Always, a radio and podcast production company, and the other from Clockwork Films, a factual television production company. Academics will learn what commissioners are looking for in a pitch and how to write for radio and television while also being given the chance to pitch in-person to Audio Always and Clockwork Films!
Academics will be asked to bring a maximum of two pitch ideas to the workshop. Each pitch should be rooted in their research, no more than 250 words and should explain:
What’s new? - what are we seeing or hearing that we haven’t seen or heard before
Why now? - why should this be broadcast in 2023/2024/2025 and what is the reason behind why this will only work now
Will this idea be for radio or for television?
Please note: Lunch, tea and coffee will be provided on the day.
