TORCH supports various types of International Engagement, enabling and facilitating research connections and collaborations.
Many of these exchanges have come through ‘bottom-up’ connections with researchers, and others are part of wider, strategic plans to encourage and support international research with Oxford.

Many of these exchanges have come through ‘bottom-up’ connections with researchers, and others are part of wider, strategic plans to encourage and support international research with Oxford.
This section on the TORCH website highlights some of the ongoing and growing international engagement opportunities:
The Oxford-Berlin Research Partnership involves four institutions in Berlin: the Freie Universität Berlin, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Technische Universität Berlin and the Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin. In its initial stages, the partnership will build on existing research links between Oxford and Berlin, and also create an environment for taking forward new projects across the five institutions, including all areas of academic research and also within the museums and libraries of both Berlin and Oxford.
The TORCH International Partnership Scheme allows Oxford researchers to apply for grants to support strategically important international projects with an international partner. Grants of £2,000 for projects are available, and up to £10,000 for large cross-divisional projects). The scheme runs twice per term. Next deadline: 24th January
The Oxford-Venice Initiative allows research students, ECRs and established academics to spend time doing research at the Fondazione Giorgio Cini of Venice, using the rich collections of this institution. Next deadline: 24th January
The AfOx Visiting Fellows Program is designed to enhance academic mobility and network building. The program supports African scholars and researchers working in any discipline to spend periods of flexible time in Oxford, for example as sabbatical leave for utilising library or other university facilities or undertaking or planning collaborative research with Oxford based colleagues. Next deadline: 8th February.
There are two schemes that allow Oxford Humanities researchers to invite international colleagues as TORCH Visiting Fellows and Professors: the TORCH International Fellowships and the TORCH Global South Visiting Fellowships and Professorships.
The TORCH International Fellowships allow Oxford researchers to apply for small grants to support a visiting International Fellowship. Bursaries of £5,000 are available for the Fellow to facilitate their visit to Oxford. The scheme runs once per term. Next deadline: 21st February
The TORCH Global South Visiting Professorships and Fellowships are funded by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. Through this scheme, Oxford researchers from Humanities Faculties and other Divisions can apply for a bursary to host a TORCH-Mellon Global South Visiting Professor or Visiting Fellow for an academic term. These Professorships and Fellowships will be crucial in the work of providing role models and embedding expectations on diversity and inclusivity in the wider University. This scheme runs once per term.
