Mortimer History Society Essay Prize 2016

The Mortimer History Society has launched an essay competition with a first prize of £750 and runner-up prize of £300. Winning essays will also be published in the Journal of the Mortimer History Society. The Prize will be judged by a distinguished panel of historians chaired by Professor Chris Given-Wilson. Submissions are invited for the first round in 2016. The closing date for entries is 16th December 2016.

The purpose of the competition is to stimulate scholarly research into the Mortimers of Wigmore and the medieval Welsh Marches (1066 - 1500). Entries are welcome from a variety of academic disciplines or can reflect a multi-disciplinary approach.

The competition is open to all.
