For Oxford Open Doors 2023 the TORCH team welcomed over 300 people to the Radcliffe Humanities Building, formerly Radcliffe Infirmary and Oxford's first hospital which was open from 1770 to 2007. The Radcliffe Infirmary was the location for the first use of penicillin to treat infections in 1941.
The TORCH team were inspired by the number of visitors with very personal histories and connections to what is now the Humanities Division and TORCH offices.
It was also an opportunity for visitors to see the construction of the Humanities Division's new home - The Schwarzman Centre for the Humanities - which will be open as a public building in 2025.
Oxford Open Doors is an incredible annual event organised by Oxford Preservation Trust.
