Oxford-Uppsala Culture & Creativity Research Cluster

As part of the partnership between TORCH and the Centre for Integrated Research on Culture and Society (CIRCUS) at Uppsala University, the Oxford-Uppsala Initiative Research Cluster is intended to encourage collaboration between researchers in the Humanities at the University of Oxford and Uppsala University. The Culture and Creativity Research Cluster aims to encourage research collaboration and facilitate opportunities for developing strategic multi-disciplinary research projects together.

Professor Christine Gerrard, Director of TORCH, says: “We are excited to begin this first step in our partnership with CIRCUS. The Cluster will be a place of creativity and experimentation, where researchers with complementary skills and expertise will come together to share best practice and develop innovative projects.”  

Professor Claes-Fredrik Helgesson, Research Director of CIRCUS, says: “I expect that this initiative will provide ample opportunities for researchers at Oxford and Uppsala to explore shared interests and lay foundations for new innovative projects says Claes-Fredrik Helgesson, director of Centre for Integrated Research on Culture and Society (CIRCUS) at Uppsala University. We at CIRCUS have in our endeavors to facilitate research collaborations for a long time benefited hugely from our  conversations with TORCH. I’m extremely pleased that we now are taking this to the next level by together offering a concrete platform for the researchers from our two universities to meet and explore opportunities for further collaborations.”
