Alice recently completed her DPhil in the Faculty of Medieval and Modern Languages (Italian) at the University of Oxford. Her doctoral project analysed the films and plays by Sicilian director Emma Dante, arguing that she exemplifies a queer and Southern epistemology. Alongside investigating Dante’s works, the thesis also analysed a vast interdisciplinary array of works, curating a troubling and queer archive. Alice has also curated and produced a TORCH-funded podcast, Queer Graphics: Fumetti LGBTQIA+ Italiani, and is one of the founders and co-convenors of the Queer Intersections Oxford network. She has authored articles for Ecozon@: European Journal of Literature, Culture, and Environment and gender/sexuality/italy, among others.
