Dr JC Niala is Head of Research, Teaching and Collections at the History of Science Museum and Public and Community Engagement with Research Fellow at Reuben College, University of Oxford. She is also Co-Investigator on TORCH and English Heritage’s Inspiring Voices collaborative research project. Her research and practice sit at the intersection of poetry, heritage, and community engagement. A widely published poet, JC has led TORCH-supported projects such as the award-winning 1918 Allotment Project, which brought poetry and performance into heritage spaces to reimagine public histories. Passionate about making research accessible and resonant, she champions co-creation and collaboration with communities. Her work explores how creative practices—particularly poetry—can deepen our connection to place, memory, and belonging.
