I am an MSt student reading English and American Studies at Hertford College. Principally, my research concerns the role of narrative in structuring letters and culture, with special attention to African-American literature. My dissertation examines the tendentious function of race in early nineteenth century United States law and its relationships to the stories we tell ourselves in the present. Additionally, I am interested in the living memory of slavery, continental philosophy, and contemporary memoir.
