My name is Olana and I am a second-year postgraduate student at New College, Oxford. I read for the MSt Global and Imperial History last year and I’m currently pursuing the MSc Modern South Asian Studies. I’m interested in researching the experiences of overseas students from Africa, Asia and the Caribbean in Britain, as well as their participation in the student movements of the 1960s. I am also interested in public spaces and contested histories, and have been associated with the Rhodes Trust and the Institute for Historical Justice and Reconciliation (IHJR) in the Netherlands. When I’m not reading, I enjoy taking part in theatrical projects that combine my twin passions of art and activism.
