Ulrike Almut Sandig and Karen Leeder, in conversation with Anjum Katyal, Jaipur Literature Festival ‘Words are Bridges: Poetry in Hidden Places.

Ulrike A. Sandig’s latest volume of poetry is an integration of the dark undertones of the fairytales by the Grimm brothers with contemporary issues of migration, war and ecological threat. Translated from German to English by Karen Leeder the poems present a sharp reminder of the importance of empathy and what it means to be human. Together with Anjum Katyal they discuss the writing process, the art of translations and the constant search for poetry in hidden places.
