Translator-in-Residence at the Queen's College Translation Exchange

The Queen's College Translation Exchange is joining with a range of partners across the UK to develop a national translator-in-residence scheme. The scheme is set to run in a consortium of universities and Literature Development Agencies. Each translator will run a series of activities in their host institution, enabling members of the university and general public to engage collaboratively and critically with the act of translation. The translators will also benefit from being part of the wider national network of residents, and the project as a whole will support efforts across the UK to decolonise and diversify curricula, research and literary translation.

Translation is increasingly valued as a way of engaging the public in international culture and in critical reflection on that culture. The residencies will build new audiences for translated literature, through participatory activities including creative translation workshops in local schools, translation ‘duels’ and seminars.

During the first half of 2022 we will work with partners to plan an initial residency for the 2022-23 academic year.
