Want to spend a week in July participating in a FREE hands-on summer school, working with experts and your Humanities peers to develop your 'public engagement with research' skills?
Now in its fourth year, the AHRC-TORCH Public Engagement with Research Summer School consists of workshops, lectures, and small group sessions designed to give DPhil students and Early Career Researchers from Oxford, Cambridge, and the Open University the skills and training to integrate public engagement into their research.
Spend five days (July 9-13 2018) with other Humanities DPhils/ECRs, learning more about how to work with partner institutions; pitch for television and radio; participate in national and digital collaborations; deal effectively with press/media; write a successful grant application; do outreach with seniors and children; create a podcast; and more, led by a range of speakers from Oxford, the BBC, National Trust, and beyond.
Most sessions will take place at The Oxford Research Centre in the Humanities (TORCH), but two hands-on sessions will occur at the Pitt Rivers Museum and the Bodeian. A £25 'payment' is required, but this is just a deposit intended to reduce cancellations; you will be fully refunded after the program.
