Historic Houses in a European Context

The Universities of Durham, Oxford and Tübingen welcome applications from PhD/D.Phil researchers to participate in a series of small group seminars and workshops to consider historic houses in a European context.

Three workshops will be held between March and July 2021 to discuss different methodological approaches to historic houses, and explore the possibility for writing trans-national histories using historic houses, their archives and collections.

Successful applicants will have the opportunity to present work-in-progress papers and discuss their research with a European community of scholars. The number of participants will be limited to c. 30 researchers to enable in-depth group discussion.

This workshop series has been prompted by the AHRC-funded Jewish Country Houses project and co-convened by Professor Abigail Green and Dr Oliver Cox (University of Oxford), Dr Tom Stammers (University of Durham), and Professor Ewald Frie and Dr Daniel Menning (University of Tübingen).

Please email your completed application form to Amanda Westcott.

Applications to participate close at 17:00 (UK time) on 8th March 2021.
