Applications are now open for Oxford University students to undertake a remote micro-internship with INTO and the National Trust Partnership in December 2021.

 

This internship is co-hosted by the National Trust Partnership and INTO, the International National Trusts Organisation.

INTO brings together the global family of national trusts across the world to share ideas, experiences and resources.  As a coalition of over 80 different organisations, INTO aims to grow the capacity for heritage conservation across the world and to be a global voice for matters of common concern.

 

What you will do:

Working remotely as part of a small team, you will undertake desk-based research into one of the following subjects (please explain in your personal statement which you would be most interested in):
  • Connections between INTO member organisations and the National Trust (objects in the collection, shared stories, similar sites, etc)
  • Volunteering for heritage and conservation among the national trusts of the world
This is a scoping exercise to identify best practice, case studies, tips and solutions from across the global network of INTO partners under these two key themes.  The research will inform INTO activity next year as we highlight what is unique and special about the national trust approach.
You will submit your research findings as a written report which will be shared with the INTO team.  Interns will have the opportunity to meet regularly with the supervisory team, National Trust and INTO staff and fellow interns via Microsoft Teams video calls. 

 

What you will gain:

By the end of the internship you will have gained experience of online research, interviewing, critical thinking, report writing, analysis of information from different sources, planning and scheduling.  You will also gain an insight into the wider field of international heritage management. 

You will have the opportunity to compile a research report and discuss your findings at the end of the week with members of the Oxford National Trust Partnership team, National Trust and INTO staff.

 

Applicant Profile:

Candidates will be considered from any subject area, from second-year undergraduate level and above. Candidates must demonstrate good written communication skills, experience of web-based research, an ability to work both independently and as part of a team, and a keen interest in working in – or with – the heritage sector.
